Now that the school year is over, where do we go from here? This has been one of the most undesirable school years in history. This pandemic caught administration, teachers, parents, and students off guard, making them totally unprepared for the hectic chain of events that followed; our “new normal “. As an administrator/ instructor, the shock is still an everyday part of my life. The uncertainties over the future in academia is yet to be remotely clarified. However, here is what we should expect :
- 2020-2021 School year will resume in a virtual format.
- Students will have informal assessments on the onset of the academic year.
- Parents will have a better grasp on the daily lives of teachers.
- State standards, Common Core strategies and the importance of classroom management will become second nature .
- Overall, everyone’s life has changed for the better regarding technology.
- We were reminded of the importance of a support group .
- “Social Distancing “ will become a term we will never forget .
- Wearing a mask can be a fashion statement.
- We were reminded of the importance of washing our hands and covering our mouths to create a sense of sterilization .
- Lastly, we all need each other to be the voice for the voiceless.
Preparing for our Summer break, can be exciting under “normal “ circumstances …Unfortunately, this year is not “ normal” . For now , let’s continue to strive for clarity in all areas of this time in history .
